On December 27, 2017 the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a call from a citizen
reporting they had received a call from a phone number belonging to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center. The citizen reported the call was an automated message requesting funds via credit
card for inmate commissary.The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office does not accept credit or debit cards at any of our locations, or for any service we provide. Sheriff Allen states “We will never request credit card information from a member of this community, nor do we use automated calling systems.” If you receive an automated call from any phone number, please hang up immediately and do not provide any type of personal information. Most of these types of calls originate from outside of the country and are difficult to investigate once they have your information.
