WINNEMUCCA, Nev.— Adalynn Camilla Mendoza is the first baby of 2018.
The beautiful little girl made her entrance at 6:54 p.m. Tuesday, January 2—and the staff at Humboldt General Hospital was waiting.
“Everyone [at the hospital] was so excited,” said dad Angel Mendoza. “They said we would be the first baby of the New Year.”
Mom Jannet was also excited to meet her new daughter, especially since Adalynn’s sister and brothers were all born at 36 weeks. “It was horrible,” laughed Jannet at going the full 40 weeks. “I couldn’t wait.”
Adalynn weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces, and was 20 inches long. She joins 7-year-old Sarahi, 5-year-old Elias, and 3-year-old Saul at home.
Maternal grandparents are Martha and Salvador Garcia of Winnemucca; paternal grandparents are Emma Cardenas of Florida and Uriel Mendoza of Winnemucca.
Little Adalynn was well attended by physicians. She was delivered by Dr. James Denisar-Green, a physician resident with the University of Las Vegas School of Medicine. Dr. Green was attended by Dr. Bradford Granath, the site director for the Family Medicine Rural Residency Program at Humboldt General Hospital, and Jannet’s physician for the past nine months has been Dr. Leonard Perkinson.
