McDermitt Murder Update (Names Released)

Humboldt County Sheriff Mike Allen is very saddened to report the names of the two victims who were killed in McDermitt. They are identified as Amy Hinkey, age 40, and Adeline Sam, age 31, both of McDermitt.
This was a very horrific & senseless crime that has affected our community as a whole. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Search & Rescue, BIA & FBI has been diligently working on this case. The FBI is the lead agency in the investigation.

An arrest has been made in the case. Stoney Prior, of McDermitt was originally taken into custody on nonrelated Tribal charges on January 31, 2018. Through the investigation, probable cause was developed to charge Prior with Murder. Prior was released to federal authorities from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
