Raquel Welch died yesterday.  She was 82.  Raquel became an international sex symbol in the 1960s, thanks to movies like “Fantastic Voyage”“Bedazzled”, and “One Million Years B.C.”, in which she wore an iconic animal skin bikini.

One of the greatest sex symbols of all time is no more.  Raquel Welch passed away yesterday.  She was 82.  There’s no word yet on the cause of death.

Raquel’s big break was the 1966 sci-fi classic “Fantastic Voyage”.  That same year, she wore her iconic animal skin bikini as the cavewoman Loana in the 1966 prehistoric classic “One Million Years B.C.”

It was even promoted as “Mankind’s first bikini.”

It was her poster the warden rips away to uncover how Andy escaped in The Shawshank Redemption.

Raquel’s other gigs included the original version of “Bedazzled” . . . 1976 comedy “Mother, Jugs & Speed” . . . (Guess who she played???) . . . “The Naked Gun 33 1/3” . . . and “Legally Blonde”.

She was also considered for the part of Mary Ann on “Gilligan’s Island” . . . which would have been a weird fit, since she was even MORE voluptuous than Tina Louise . . . who played Ginger.

Raquel spent her final years mostly out of the spotlight, and unattached.

In 2015 she said, quote, “I don’t like to have a man, because I’m too set in my ways.  I like what I do.  I actually enjoy being me, and I make a very good living at it and I’m happy.”
