RENO, Nev. –– The University of Nevada, Reno Reynolds School of Journalism, KUNR Public Media and Great Basin College are hosting a private open house for Elko-area community leaders to view the new KNCC Radio studio on May 11, 2023.
Currently, KNCC (91.5 FM) rebroadcasts the signal of its sister station KUNR in Reno, a service of the Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno. In late 2022, KUNR began developing an on-site studio and station offices for KNCC on the Great Basin College campus, the first step of its ongoing expansion of the station. They hope to begin broadcasting from Elko on KNCC, with locally produced and recorded radio programming, by the end of 2023.
Great Basin College, University of Nevada, Reno, and KUNR public media launched this project to bring local news, information and cultural programming to listeners in the Elko region.
This event is for media and community members by invitation. A community-wide open house is planned for the fall.
