The Writers Guild of America authorized a strike yesterday morning.  As of now, all late-night shows have gone dark, along with “Saturday Night Live”.  Writing on the upcoming seasons of “Cobra Kai” and “Yellowjackets” has also been halted.

FULL STORY:  As you’ve probably heard, Hollywood writers are ON STRIKE.  The Writers Guild of America voted to strike after they couldn’t make a deal by Tuesday morning at midnight.

The big issue is compensation from streaming.  The WGA says the studios have, quote, “used the transition to streaming to cut writer pay and separate writing from production, worsening working conditions for series writers at all levels.”

The studios say they offered a “generous increase” in compensation . . . but the writers didn’t agree, obviously.

This is affecting a lot of shows . . . here’s how:

The network late-night shows have all gone dark . . . along with “The Daily Show” and HBO’s “Last Week Tonight” and “Real Time with Bill Maher”.  “Gutfeld!” on Fox will NOT shut down.

If you’re a Pete Davidson fan, first of all . . . what is wrong with you?  Secondly, his return to “Saturday Night Live” this coming weekend is OFF.  The show won’t return until the strike is over.

The writers’ room for “Abbott Elementary” was supposed to convene yesterday . . . but that didn’t happen.  This could affect how many episodes they’re able to produce for Season 3.

Writers working on Season 6 of “Cobra Kai” have put their pencils . . . or their iPads . . . down for now.  Writing on Season 3 of Showtime’s “Yellowjackets” has also been halted.

But all scripts for Season 2 of the “Game of Thrones” spin-off “House of the Dragon” have been turned in . . . and filming has already begun, so it’s expected to continue.

There’s no word what happens if they need rewrites, though.

(Variety is keeping a running list of all the shows being affected by the strike.)

Stupid One-Liner:  All the late-night shows have shut down due to the Hollywood writers strike.  “Now where will I get my news?” asked a bunch of idiots.

Stupid One-Liner:  Thanks to the Hollywood writers strike, Pete Davidson’s return to “Saturday Night Live” is off:

. . . That, ladies and gentlemen, is what we call a silver lining.

. . . Was that really necessary?  I mean, how much “writing” does it take for Pete Davidson to just act like Pete Davidson in every sketch?
